In 1971, the first microprocessor chip was introduced by Intel Corporation. The 4004 chip was a 4-bit processor with 2250 transistors, capable of almost the same power as the 1946 ENIAC (which filled a huge room and featured 18,000 vacuum tubes). The 4004 chip measured 1/6-inch long by 1/8-inch wide.
